Come and See Missions
Come and See Missions is what we call our ministries. "Come and See," an invitation extended throughout the Gospel of John by those who knew Jesus is an invitation we extend to individuals, families, groups and teams to visit to help YPM authorized ministries, the Christian church(es) and experience first hand who Jesus is. Through communications and direction from regional Presbyteries, and invitations from local Congregations, we bring together people of all ages, all denominations and all walks of life in evangelism by serving hand in hand to know God. Construction, Education and Medical programs focus on service projects, learning, health care and experiencing the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Labors of Love Program
Come and See Missions Labors of Love Program undertakes a variety of construction projects as Americans serve, side-by-side, with Mayan/Mexicans to build, paint, set concrete blocks or put roofs on. Past projects include the construction of churches, houses, a hospital, a girl's home, a therapy center, a orphanage and other medical, educational and community buildings. The hundreds of volunteers each year who come to pour concrete, comfort a child and share laughter without regard to language, go home savoring a rich experience...and memories of heartfelt gratitude in the eyes of those they served.
Field Education Program
Come and See Missions Field Education Program, provides a approved seminary curriculum, Ordained Pastoral supervision and an encouraging congregation to an individual open to learn all that this unique part of the world can teach. In the field individuals experience what it means to be a minister by doing ministry under the leadership of a trained and certified teacher using prescribed methods and disciplines of writing and reflection. Field education differs from fieldwork or field service. Individuals learn by examining how they accomplished a task, why they did what they did, and how they may do it better another time. We place individuals in mission churches because there they will acquire and test the skills and attitudes they need to become competent and successful ministers.
Medical Program
The Medical Program, is a Come and See Missions ministry for outreach medical brigades to provide for health care and financial support to people of low-income families from cities, city suburbs, neighborhoods, as well as surrounding towns and small villages. Through teams of doctors, nurses and translators from the United States and Mexico, who donate a week's time to care for individuals, families and communities mostly from remote areas where doctors and nurses are rare.
The Come and See Missions are not just about construction, education or providing medical care. They are about the growth of the human spirit in Christ.
