Labors of Love
Labors of Love bring together people of all ages, all denominations and all walks of life. Short term mission volunteers from the United States come to the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico to participate in evangelism through service and construction projects. The goal of this experience is that participants come away with a better understanding of God's work in their own lives and in the lives of the people they are serving.
All travel expenses, trip costs, transportation, food, tools, equipment, materials, etc. are paid for by the volunteers, American churches that support YPM, and the local Yucatan churches. In most cases, participants stay in YPM facilities, local homes or churches, where they sleep in hammocks/beds.
The mission undertakes a variety of projects and Americans serve, side-by-side, with Mayan/Mexicans to build, paint, set concrete blocks and put roofs on buildings. Past projects include the construction of churches, houses, a hospital, a girl's home, a therapy center, a orphanage and other educational, medical and community buildings, each having had the opportunity to experience the Labors of Love Program. For more information please see the Come and See Manual and the Come and See Schedule.
Come and See Missions are committed to bringing the word of God to the peoples of this part of the world through Labors of Love. The hundreds of volunteers each year who come, pour concrete, comfort a child and share laughter without regard to language, go home savoring a rich experience...and memories of heartfelt gratitude in the eyes of those they served.
